Somerset Hosts Free DSO Concert, City Loft Fall Fashion Weekend

Somerset hosts a free concert with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on Thursday; City Loft shopping weekend hits Detroit this weekend.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will host a free concert on Thursday in the grand lobby at the North Grand Court.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., the concert will include Rossini Finale from William Tell Overture; Beethoven Allegro (excerpts) from Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op 67; Tchaikovsky Dance of the Mirlitons from Nutcracker; Anderson Bugler’s Holiday; Ellington Duke Ellington Fantasy; Rodgers and Hammerstein selections from The Sound of Music; and Sousa Stars and Stripes.

Thursday will also mark the return of the Somerset Collection's City Loft market event in downtown Detroit, which runs Thursday through Sunday.

The downtown City Loft market, 1441 Woodward, features food, events and entertainment, as well as about 40 boutique stores from the collection set up throughout the loft. City Loft hours are Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6p.m.

Pottery Barn Kids will also host a story time Saturday at City Loft. The event features Janet Marie & m’ Archibald’s Very Buggy Storytime, featuring songs about bugs and a play-along presentation of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Story time is at 1 p.m. Saturday at 1433 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

New stores to September’s City Loft will be , Intimacy, ,  and See Eyewear, as well as a host of other stores returning to the market.

“We’re excited to be back on Woodward Avenue with new stores, great looks for fall, and all the excitement from past City Loft openings,” said Edward Nakfoor, Somerset Collection representative.
