Super Turnout for Casting Call for Warner Bros Movie to be Shot in Michigan

When the still-untitled Superman-Batman sequel comes out, you may spot your neighbors in walk-on roles for police officers, military types or business executives.

Thousands of southeast Michigan residents turned out in Troy Sunday and stood in line for several hours hoping to get a chance to audition for about 8,500 paid gigs as extras in what is likely the Superman-Batman blockbuster, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The casting call for a major Warner Bros. production promised thousands of roles was for an unnamed film, though the studio has publicly announced the Superman-Batman movie will be filmed in Michigan this year.

If speculation is correct, the extras will get a chance to rub shoulders with some big names:

Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Jeremy Irons (Alfred) and “Man of Steel” actors Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Diane Lane. Holly Hunter has also signed on in a yet-to-be determined role.

About 3,800 people got the chance to try to convince Warner Bros. executives to use them in the film before the tryouts were ended.

The jobs pay $64 for up to eight hours of work a day, plus overtime if the daily schedule exceeds eight hours.

Maryellen Aviano, a Warner Bros. casting coordinator, told the Free Press the casting call went “better than expected.”

“We’re glad to be here on a spring day, even though it is still cold outside,” she said.”I am shocked at all the people that are applying for jobs that maybe already have one. It could backfire on one or the other of us. But we’ll hope for the best.”
