Troy Foundation for Educational Excellence Hosts 16th Annual Golf Outing

It was a blustery day for a golf outing, but the rain held off on Friday so organizers, sponsors and supporters could get through the 18 hole course at Sanctuary Lake Golf Course in Troy. It was all in the name of fun, and in the name of supporting the Troy Foundation for Educational Excellence, a non-profit organization that raises money throughout the year in order to provide financial assistance to various school programs within the Troy School District.

Said TFEE President, Julianne McClure, “Our mission is to strengthen the educational excellence of the Troy School District by funding innovative leaning opportunities through private support.” Each year, teachers within the district apply for grants for truly extra-ordinary activities they might not otherwise have the resources for. The TFEE awarded 107 grants for the 2017-18 school year, for projects like the ‘5th Grade Cow Heart Dissection’ at Schroeder Elementary, ‘Coding with Pop Culture’ at Hamilton Elementary, ‘Ancient Civilizations Literacy Project’ at Larson Middle, new I-pad programs for “Success through Smart Music” at Baker Middle and ‘Active Learning in A P Biology’ at Troy High. Every school in the district received at least one grant.

In all it was a delightful day--spent golfing, socializing and supporting our schools--raising over $30,000 for the non-profit, which will go right back into programs for Troy students. “We are grateful for the many organizations who help us execute this event every year,” said TFEE trustee Sharon Spagnola. Mark your calendar for next year’s Golf Classic, which will be held on June 21, 2019.
