An increasing number of Michigan families are facing hunger as a result of job loss, foreclosure, or wage reduction. One in five people in Michigan struggle with hunger, and over 700,000 people are missing meals each week. 40 percent of those seeking assistance are children. Meals provided by “Give a Hand for the Holidays” will be distributed to hungry families through Gleaners Community Food Bank’s 550 partner agencies in 5 counties, including schools, shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens and church based programs.
