An explosion occurred this morning at MGA Research, on Elliot Drive near 14 Mile and Dequindre roads, according to reports.

No fire and no injuries have been reported following an explosion at a Troy research facility this morning, Troy Fire Lt. Chuck Riesterer told Troy Patch.
The explosion occurred around 10:30 a.m. at MGA Research and caused some damage to the building's ceiling.
The Troy Fire Department reported to WXYZ.com that the explosion occurred after an employee mixed some water with a small amount of anti-freeze and put it into a pressurized chamber.

According to Reisterer, this caused a steam explosion that lifted the ceiling off the small testing room. There does not seem to be damage outside of the testing room, but the fire department is currently investigating the scene to confirm, Reisterer said.
The research facility conducts testing of various parts and components for the auto industry, including environmental testing, according to its website.
