TROY COMMUNITY CHORUS ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
TROY COMMUNITY CHORUS VOCAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

The Troy Community Chorus is pleased to announce that William Lee, age 15 and a 9th grade student at Bloomfield Christian School is the 2016 recipient of the Troy Community Chorus/Lester Miller Vocal Music Scholarship.
William began playing cello at age 4, piano at age 5 and his vocal music career at age 7 with the Motor City Lyric Opera Company under Artistic Director, Mary Callaghan Lynch. At age 11, he was the youngest singer to be awarded the American Protege International Vocal Award making his solo singing debut at Carnegie Hall.
William has been a member of the Glee Club at Brookfield Academy and was chosen as the lead in the musical production "A Pirate's Life For Me". He portrayed the role of Aristocrat Roger Goodman under the directorship of Mrs. Teresa Kober from the Holy Family Regional School.

This season, William was invited to perform as a guest soloist with the Grosse Point Symphony Orchestra at their Holiday Concert under the direction of Maestro Joseph Striplin, from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He was also selected to perform this past Christmas at Carnegie Hall performing "Dona Nobis Pacem" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as a winner of their 2015 Young Artists Talent Competition.
In March of this year, William was awarded a vocal music scholarship by the Detroit Tuesday Musicale Organization where he was a winner in their vocal music competition. He has been a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Youth Ensembles, Oakland Youth Orchestra and has passed his SAT testing for piano at Oakland University.

In addition to volunteering to perform for the sick and elderly in many area nursing homes, William has raised funds through singing performances for Angel's Place in Oakland County, the Motor City Lyric Opera Company's Opera on Wheels which brings opera to Detroit Public Schools and for the Global Children's Foundation, a non-profit group that brings supplies to children in Africa.
William was a featured soloist at the Troy Community Chorus spring concert "H2O' which was held on April 22nd at Athens High School in Troy.
