Troy Dog Park Named for Devoted Dog Lovers, Community Servants

TROY, MI — This is truly something to bark about.
More than 60 names were submitted to the Troy Parks and Recreation Committee for the long-awaited dog park on Livernois Road, north of Big Beaver Road, and a selection has been made.
The new dog park, part of a larger 16-acre recreational facility, will be named the Daisy Knight Dog Park — in recognition not only of Barbara Knight’s $100,000 contribution to the park in honor of her late husband, P. Terry Knight, but also for Daisy the dog the couple rescued.

P. Terry Knight, Troy’s 2011 Distinguished Citizen of the Year, was also a devoted community servant who served on boards for the Troy Kiwanis Club, the Boys and Girls Club of Troy, Walsh College, the Troy Downtown Development Committee, the Troy Chamber of Commerce, the Troy Animal Control Board and the Troy Foundation for Educational Excellence.

“I’m thrilled to give the donation,” Barbara Knight told the Troy City Council, which approved the name at a meeting last month. “I couldn’t be happier to do this for Troy.”
