Troy High School Orchestras Present a Gala Concert

The Troy High School Orchestras welcome back director Alan R. MacNair for the Twenty-seventh Annual Gala Concert on Saturday, February 2,

The Troy High School Orchestras welcome back director Alan R. MacNair for the Twenty-seventh Annual Gala Concert on Saturday, February 2, 2019. The elegant evening which features the Freshman, Concert, Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras along with the ever-popular Troy Country Fiddlers will begin at 7 pm at Troy High School’s auditorium, at 4777 Northfield Parkway in Troy, Michigan, with an afterglow immediately following.

The Orchestras will be joined by several guest musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, horn players Mark Abbot, Natalie Fritz, Scott Strong and Johanna Yarbrough, with a special appearance by DSO Cellist Jeremy Crosmer. Musical highlights will include Symphony No.1--by Gustav Mahler, Jupiter--from The Planets by Gustav Holst, Minotaur--by Richard Meyer, Threnody--by Jeremy Crosmer.

Emmy Award-winning news Fox 2 reporter and Troy High Alumni Roop Raj will act as Master of Ceremonies.

Refreshments (coffee, tea and sparkling cider) will be served, along with Hors d’oeuvres from over 30 restaurants including Granite City, Kona Grille, Eddie V’s, Crispelli’s, Mr. Kabob, Noble Fish, Fuji Buffet, Kazuko Sushi, I Love Juice Bar, Ashoka, LaBotana, Picano’s, Cedar Grille, Ridley’s Bakery, Maggiano’s, Ticonderoga, and flowers from Accent Florist.

All proceeds from the Orchestra Gala support programs for the Orchestra classes’ participation in various events throughout the year such as String Camp in September, along with travel to various competitions and seminars. This spring, the orchestras have been invited to perform in Toronto, Canada, which will be their first time traveling outside of the United States.
