Troy High School Students Show Compassion to Flint

Troy High School Students Deliver Care Packages Through "A Friend for Flint"

For the past few years Troy High School’s student government has created a student-to-student relationship with students from Flint’s Northwood High School, through a program called “A Friend for Flint.” This year THS dedicated its Activist Week efforts to helping 1,000 students from two Flint elementary schools by collecting enough resources and items (specifically personal care products like soap, toothpaste, tissues, shampoo) to fill two buses—one filled with donations, and one filled with THS students--to take to the schools to deliver personally. The school raised $10,000 in products and over $10,000 in cash (which was used to purchase additional items) from their Activist Week fundraising activities held back in February.

Members of Troy High’s student government loaded up vehicles on Thursday, March 1, and boarded the vans for their trip to Flint on Friday, where they personally delivered the much-needed supplies to Doyle Ryder and Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary schools.
