Troy Man Dies In Rollover Crash On I-696: Police
Michigan State Police said the man tried passing a semi truck in a construction zone before crashing.
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A Troy man died Wednesday morning in a rollover crash on Interstate 696 in Farmington Hills, Michigan State Police said.
Troopers said the 40-year-old man was driving west on Interstate 696 near Haggerty Road at 5:50 a.m. when he tried passing a semi truck in a construction zone.
The man tried passing the semi truck just before a lane closure in the left lane and ended up crashing into the truck, rolling into a ditch off the right side of the road and catching fire, Michigan State Police said.

After putting out the fire, officers then found the man dead inside his vehicle, police said.
Westbound Interstate 696 at Haggerty Road was closed as police were still investigating the crash. Traffic was being diverted to southbound Interstate 275/Michigan 5, as officials continue investigating the crash.
