Troy Man Pistol-Whipped In Attempted Robbery At Home: Police

Police believe the attack was a targeted crime and there is no enhanced threat to public safety.​

TROY, MI — A man was injured Thursday morning during an attempted robbery at a Troy home, according to police.

Police said a man returned to his home on Wilmet Drive in Troy at 2 a.m. when another man wearing a ski mask hit him in the head with a handgun in the driveway.

A fight over the gun ensued and one shot was fired that struck an unoccupied vehicle, police said.

The suspected robber then ran away from the home, police said.

The 46-year-old victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police were still looking for the suspected robber and no one has been arrested in connection to the assault and attempted robbery, police said.
