TROY, MI — A Troy man was sentenced to a year in prison after he struck a 7-year-old girl and never stopped at the scene last year, according to multiple reports.

Raed Yousef Abdalla, 27, pleaded no contest to the hit-and-run that left the 7-year-old girl with a broken femur, broken pelvis and severe abrasions, police said.

Police said the girl was riding her bike across the intersection of Silverstone Drive and Dryden Road in Troy at 10:51 a.m. on May 13, 2023 when she was hit by a car Abdalla was driving. Abdalla never stopped after the crash, police said.

Investigators found the car that struck the girl at a used car dealership in Roseville, roughly 45 minutes after the crash, police said.

Investigators believe Abdalla switched cars after the crash. Investigators then connected Abdalla to the dealership and arrested him in connection with the hit-and-run crash in June 2023.
