Troy Police: Underage Drinker Had BAC of .053 Percent

Police called on a complaint about a loud party found four people in a vehicle who allegedly had been smoking pot.

TROY, MI – A 20-year-old Detroit man had a blood-alcohol content of .053 percent when he was arrested early Saturday for underage consumption of alcohol, Troy police said.

He was one of two people arrested when police were called to a loud party about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Hawthorne Suites, 2600 Livernois Ave. When police arrived at the location to investigate the party complaint, they found the man and three others seated in a black 2010 Ford Fusion parked nearby with the engine running.

Police said in a news release that they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside vehicle and that “when asked, the occupants stated they had smoked marijuana earlier but there was nothing illegal in the vehicle.”

Police searched the purse of a 23-year-old Detroit woman, where they found a bag of marijuana, according to the release. A further inspection of the vehicle revealed two plastic cups in the center console that contained a frozen drink that had an odor of alcohol.

The 23-year-old was charged with possession of marijuana, police said.

Two others in the vehicle took field sobriety tests that indicated neither had been drinking.
