TROY, MI — A Troy postal carrier found two abandoned pit bull mix puppies inside a commercial blue post office mailbox, according to a rescue group.

No Dog Left Behind, a nonprofit organization in Berkley, rescued the very young male puppies. Rescuers believe the puppies are roughly six weeks old and barely over the age of weaning from their mother's milk.

"It happened again," the organization wrote on social media. "We are three days into 2024. Sadly, in the world of rescue, we are faced with these horror stories every day! Some we can help and others we cannot. But today was the day that we COULD help these babies out."
