Troy Software Company Sells for $670M
Operations are expected to continue as they have at Troy-based New World Systems.

New World Systems, a privately held Troy software company, has sold for $670 million in cash and stock to software giant Tyler Technologies. It’s the largest acquisition to date for the Plano,TX-based Tyler Technologies.
CEO Larry D. Leinweber founded New World Systems in 1981, and it now has around 470 employees and more than 2,000 customers in local, state and federal government agencies, the Detroit Free Press reports.

New World Systems’ primary products are the Aegis Public Safety integrated software used by dispatchers, officers in the field, firefighters, emergency medical services, corrections officers and command staff; and the Logos Public Administration software system that integrates information from various platforms into a single database.
Tyler Technologies also provides software services to the public sector.

“These two companies have both been in the government market space for 30 years,” John S. Marr Jr., Tyler’s president and CEO, told the Free Press. “The products complement each other.”
The transaction, which is expected to close by year’s end, could result in more jobs at the New World Systems location in Troy. No layoffs are planned, offices are expected to remain in Troy and New World operations are expected to continue largely unchanged.
Leinweber will join Tyler’s board of directors.
