With record snowfall for Detroit, the third biggest storm in Detroit’s recorded history, Verizon Wireless, a technology leader with the nation’s largest and most reliable 4G LTE network, confirmed today the network is fully operational and released tips to maintain your wireless emergency kit. Verizon has mobilized its employees and resources to respond to the needs of customers in the storm’s aftermath. Verizon’s operations teams continue to closely monitor the storm’s impact on our networks.

“Our network team has been working around the clock to make sure customers continue to have uninterrupted service so they can check on family members or do their work without delay,” said Lauren Love-Wright, Verizon Wireless region president for Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky. “We have made sure that back-up batteries and generators at our key network facilities have been tested and fueled to keep power flowing to deliver services to customers in case of any power outages from the heavy snowfall.”

In addition, Verizon’s disaster recovery fleet of emergency vehicles stands ready for deployment if needed. The fleet includes a mobile command center, mobile emergency calling centers, and satellite trailers. Verizon Wireless was awarded for best Overall Performance in Detroit, MI, and the metropolitan area, when tested against other carriers by Root Metrics from December 4-12, 2014.
