Victim in Fatal Motorcycle Crash Driving 'Erratically': Police

Witnesses reported to Troy police that motorcycle operated by Romeo man was driving "erratically in and out of traffic"

TROY, MI – A 25-year-old Romeo man died Thursday night in a motorcycle crash after witness reported seeing him driving his 2001 Yamaha motorcycle “erratically in and out of traffic” with two other motorcycles, Troy police said.

The crash occurred about 10:26 p.m. in the area of Big Beaver and Daley.

The man who died was traveling eastbound on Big Beaver Road when he lost control and collided with a curb on the south side of the roadway, police said in a news release. He was thrown from the motorcycle, struck a sign, landed several feet from the location of the accident, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Police said the man was wearing a helmet. His name hasn’t been released pending the notification of relatives.

The other two people operating motorcycles were not involved in the crash and were not injured, police said.

The crash was investigated by the Troy Police Department along with the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team. Witnesses to the crash are asked to the contact the Troy Police Traffic Safety Unit at (248) 524-3477.

Eastbound Big Beaver Road was closed for approximately four hours for the investigation.
