Woman Charged By Troy Police For Making Fake 911 Call
The woman placed the fake 911 call in a effort to stop officers from arresting her boyfriend during a traffic stop in Troy.
TROY, MI — Troy Police said Monday they arrested and charged a Madison Heights woman for placing a fake 911 phone call in an effort to stop Troy Police officers from arresting her boyfriend during a traffic stop.
The 30-year-old woman from Madison Heights was charged with Falsely Summoning a Police Officer, after she admitted to placing the fake 911 call, police said.
Officials said they received a 911 call at 8:34 p.m. on Sept. 19 that stated a woman heard two gunshots on the second floor of the Marriott Detroit Troy, which is located at 1525 East Maple.

However, once officers arrived at the hotel they determined there had been no gunshots, authorities said.

Authorities then traced the call and found it came from a passenger of a vehicle that had been stopped by other officers for a traffic violation.
The woman admitted she made the call in the hope that officers would respond to a more serious crime.
