Youth Accused In Sexual Assault At Macomb County HS: Officials

A juvenile was arrested in connection with a sexual assault that happened last week at a Sterling Heights high school​, officials said.​

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI — A juvenile was arrested in connection with a sexual assault that happened last week at a Sterling Heights high school, officials said.

Investigators said the assault happened during school hours Tuesday, Dec. 5, near the Performing Arts Center at Henry Ford II High School.

The juvenile was arrested Monday in connection with the assault without incident and placed at the Macomb County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting charges, police said.

Officials did not release any further details about the suspect.

Principal Lori Singleton said in a letter to parents and guardians that school officials immediately contacted law enforcement after learning of the incident.

In addition to cooperating with authorities, Singleton said school officials have opened their own investigation into the incident, which they believe was an isolated event.

Singleton also said the district and the high school has support and multiple resources available for students and parents.
