
West Bloomfield resident and Henry Ford Hospital physician Michael D. Seidman, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been elected to serve as Director-at-Large (academic) for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Foundation Board of Directors.
His newly elected position was announced Sept. 29 during the opening ceremony for the 2013 Annual Meeting & OTO EXPO in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Additionally, Dr. Seidman will be presented with the AAO-HNSF Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes longevity of service and volunteer contributions to the academy and its foundation. This will mark the second time Dr. Seidman has received the prestigious award from the academy.
Dr. Seidman previously served as chair for the AAO-HNS Board of Governors, overseeing communication between the AAO-HNS Board of Directors and the local, state, regional, national, and international otolaryngology-head and neck surgery organizations and residents.
Members of the AAO-HNSF Board of Directors work to establish and approve policies that support the academy’s position, recruit future members and leaders, and provide support and guidance to academy staff.
In his newly elected role of Director-at-Large, Dr. Seidman will provide the Board with perspectives that represent the varying interests and concerns of the general membership of the academy.
He also will serve as appointed on board committees, task forces, or ad hoc working groups, and support other designated board positions and committee chairs or representatives that report to or receive advice from the Board of Directors, to ensure they fulfill their charge and meet their objectives.
Dr. Seidman is an expert in otologic/neurotologic surgical problems, skull base tumors, cochlear implants, all surgical ear problems, surgically implantable hearing aids and surgery for hearing related issues.
He is the director of the Division of Otologic/Neurotolgic Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, co-director of the Tinnitus Center and chair of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Henry Ford, as well as the Medical Director of Wellness at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.
He is the director of the Division of Otologic/Neurotolgic Surgery and the director of Research in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, as well as chair of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Henry Ford and the medical director of Wellness at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.
