WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, opened Tuesday’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the Flint water crisis by placing blame on every level of government, but especially on Obama administration officials charged with overseeing water quality issues in the area.
“There is no acceptable level of lead in any water,” Chaffetz, chairman of the committee, said in hisopening remarks. “What happened to Flint can never happen again. It’s almost unbelievable how many bad decisions were made.”
Later, he noted that “what’s sickening about this is it was totally avoidable.”
