Who: Renowned Ukrainian artist, Konstantin Savchenko, is a contemporary Urban Impressionist who utilizes strong texture and deft color mixing to create palpable landscapes, still life paintings, and portraits. Through non-traditional colors and the energetic use of a palette knife, his oil paintings are known for depicting ordinary moments in extraordinary ways; moments of activity and repose become snapshots of vibrant life.
He was born on the January 9th, 1968 in the Ukrainian town of Slaviansk, to the family of the remarkable painter Yuri Savchenko, whose creative aura has surrounded Konstantin from his early childhood. The father's works and his passion for painting became a bright example that constituted the basis of Konstantin's creative route. In his youth, the encouragement of his family and the frequent participation in numerous exhibitions gave him the opportunity to acquire creative strength and an individual style.
The pride for Savchenko’s European heritage is evident in his oil paintings. His scenes are spontaneous and emotional, an unabashed view into the world as he sees and feels it. Travel and the bonds of family are also sources of great artistic inspiration. His quest for subject matter does not originate from seeking new landscapes or models, but from seeing the world with new eyes. It can be surmised that he paints moments, not places. Savchenko is an artist that sees the beauty of the physical world, but ultimately strives to paint the experience of being in a special place, at a special time. In each landscape, still life, and portrait; in his composition on the canvas; in everything that the hand of the artist touches, a deep feeling is present.
While relatively new to the American fine art world, Konstantin Savchenko is no stranger to fame and influence in his native Ukraine. Since his very first show during his school years, he has participated in over three-dozen group and solo exhibitions, amassing an impressive following throughout Europe and Asia. Wherever his paintings are exhibited—whether it is America, Germany, Spain, England, or Russia—they are a true representation of the real Ukrainian culture and the mind of an artistic master.
Currently living in the Ukraine with his wife and two kids, he continues to paint in his free time while working as an art director at a college university. There is no doubt that Konstantin Savchenko's works will continue to give people cause to rejoice, while also keeping their artistic value and bright individuality.
