Women’s Health Care Classic

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the Women’s Health Care Classic benefits women’s breast care programs and services at Beaumont Hospitals Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne. The Monday, June 12 event includes women-only golfing at Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club, while both men and women golf at the Friends of the Women’s Healthcare Classic at Dearborn Country Club. Meals, cocktails, silent auction and awards are also part of the activities.

Delores Pfeffer of Grosse Ile and Bob and Nancy Zakar of Dearborn are the 2017 event co-chairs.

“It’s an honor to help raise money to help women deal with the challenge of breast cancer,” said Bob Zakar. “Breast cancer touches so many. This event is really about women helping women and friends of women helping women.”

“The Women’s Health Care Classic began 25 years ago and I was there from the start,” comments Delores Pfeffer. “Even after all this time, the enthusiasm and participation of all the wonderful women and men who play and support our event never ceases to amaze me. Without these people our event could never help so many women in our area as they battled breast cancer.”

Beaumont’s Comprehensive Breast Care Program integrates cancer prevention, early detection, rapid diagnosis, leading-edge therapies, and a variety of support, education and community-support programs. Proceeds from this event will help those going through treatment with free mammograms, wigs, transportation and nurse navigation services.

“When you are dealing with breast cancer, a daily dose of inspiration makes a difference in our lives,” said Nancy Zakar. “That's what the Women's Health Care Classic does for us!”
