You may be rewarded, if only briefly. The Detroit metro could get an inch or so of snow, but its expected to melt quickly.

It youβre among the 50 percent of Michiganders who want a one-inch dusting that wonβt snarl their travel plans, dreams may come true. If youβre like the other half, who want a winter wonderland, keep dreaming.

Torregrossa, who also writes a weather blog for MLive, says the snow that does fall in heavier amounts is expected to be isolated to the northwest Lower Peninsula and the eastern U.P. β and because the ground temperatures arenβt likely to drop below freezing, itβll be a perfect Christmas snow, he said.
Road conditions shouldnβt deteriorate because any snow that does accumulate Christmas Eve night into Christmas Day morning should melt quickly.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph late Christmas Eve through noon on Christmas are expected, but the wet snow wonβt blow around much, Torregrossa said.
If youβre planning to drive into Lower Michigan overnight on Christmas Eve, heavier bursts of big, flaky wet snow could create some hazardous driving conditions, he said.
