WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI — Police are looking for a boater who struck and injured a woman in an Oakland County lake last weekend, according to sheriff's officials.

The 40-year-old Fenton woman was swimming in the lake when she was struck by a passing boat, which did not stop, officials said.

She was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital with a back injury and numerous lacerations, officials said.

She was listed in stable condition, officials said.

Family members said the woman suffered multiple broken ribs, a cracked vertebra, a bruised lung and a bruised liver. Family members created a GoFundMe page to help with her recovery.

Investigators are working to identify the driver and the boat, which witnesses described as a white speedboat/jet boat with dark accent striping.

Witnesses described the driver as a man between 50-60 years old.

Investigators asked residents and businesses near Pontiac Lake to review security or surveillance footage from Saturday afternoon for any images of a boat matching the description.

Officials ask anyone with information, including photographs or video, to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Office at 248-858-4950.
