GRACE CENTERS OF HOPE “HANDS OF HOPE” CHILDCARE CENTER IN URGENT NEED OF DIAPER DONATIONS

WHAT: Grace Centers of Hope, one of the largest homeless shelters in southeast Michigan, is in urgent need of diaper donations for its Hands of Hope Childcare Center. In recent months, Grace Centers of Hope has provided more services to families with children, which directly impacts the number of children cared for at the childcare center.  That number is expected to increase during the winter months as more families who are homeless arrive at the shelter to escape the cold. All diapers sized 4, 5, 6 would be greatly appreciated by the nonprofit organization and donations can be delivered to 35 E. Huron St., Pontiac.

The Hands of Hope childcare center provides care to infants, toddlers and preschoolers of parents who are currently enrolled in Grace Centers of Hope’s One Year Life-Skills and Two-Year Aftercare Programs.  Importantly, childcare staff is specifically trained to work with at-risk children who have suffered trauma and developmental deficiencies as a result of homelessness. Although not open to the community, the Hands of Hope Childcare Center cares for the children who call Grace Centers of Hope “home.”

Giving hope to the helpless since 1942, Grace Centers of Hope is a leading faith-based organization, daily confronting issues of homelessness, addiction, poverty, abuse and spiritual emptiness. On any given night, Grace Centers of Hope provides transitional and emergency shelter to 150-200 men, women and children, in addition to serving more than 100,000 meals each year. Grace’s $5.3 million yearly budget is maintained solely through corporate and private donors, and does not include any government assistance.
