Houghton Elementary Wants YOU: Come Build – and Play – with Us!

Lend your time and talents on Saturday, April 20, 2013 to help install the new Houghton Elementary playground. Houghton Elementary, in White Lake, Mich., will hold a Community Build Day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to create a modern and appealing play space that will be a vital asset to the school and surrounding community.

Currently, the equipment is in need of updating to provide a safer, age-appropriate playground that meets current safety and ADA standards. The Elementary is seeking volunteers from the community to help install the new playground equipment as well as assist with other non-construction/support tasks.  The event is being led by the Houghton Elementary PTA.

Houghton Elementary is the proud recipient of a $15,000 LET’S PLAY Community Construction Grant from DR PEPPER SNAPPLE GROUP and the national non-profit KaBOOM!.   Houghton Elementary PTA has a goal of $15,000 in matching funds to complete the playground.  Both monetary and in-kind donations are accepted.   Please send your contributions payable to: Houghton PTA C/O Houghton Elementary 8080 Elizabeth Lake Road, White Lake, MI 48386. Houghton Elementary wishes to thank Walmart Supercenter Store in White Lake, MI for its generous donation of food and drinks for the build day event, as well as a 46” TV for a fundraising raffle and $1,500 Walmart Local Community Contribution Grant.  Tim Hortons in White Lake, MI also is donating coffee for the build day event.
