Volunteer for the 2013 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix!

The Detroit Grand Prix Association (DGPA), the official volunteer organization of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, is seeking customer service-oriented team members to join the DGPA and help stage this world-class auto racing event the weekend of May 31-June 2, 2013.

What is the event?

The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is an exciting weekend-long festival featuring world-class racing of the IZOD IndyCar Series, GRAND-AM Rolex Series, and Pirelli World Challenge, along with a variety of musical entertainment, interactive displays, go-karts, souvenir vendors, and family fun for all ages. The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is a 501(c)(3) organization and a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit partnership. Since the Grand Prix returned to Belle Isle in 2007, event organizers have made over $7 million in lasting improvements to Belle Isle, and the event has generated millions of dollars of economic impact.

How do volunteers help?

DGPA members play a vital role in the Motor City’s hosting of this event. Areas staffed and/or supported by DGPA members include credentials, ticket takers, shuttle guides, hospitality, customer relations, grandstand ushers, circuit marshals, media center, event ceremonies, on-track services, information, and food services.

What is the time commitment for volunteers? Volunteers are required to work at least 25 hours in their assigned area either prior to or during race weekend, with each area having specific shift times ranging from 7 Β½ to 8 Β½ hours in length. All DGPA volunteers must also attend one training session in May to prepare for their volunteer experience on Belle Isle (volunteers can choose from three possible training dates).

What benefits do I get as a volunteer and member of the DGPA?

As a member, you are entitled to numerous benefits, including:

ο‚· Race credentials for the full three days of race weekend

ο‚· Race weekend uniform, including a shirt and hat (colorful weekend wear, with event logo, to show that you are a volunteer staff member)

ο‚· Morning coffee, bagels and donuts, as well as lunch served all three days of race weekend

ο‚· DGPA patch and lapel pin

ο‚· Complimentary secured parking available to all members, with shuttle service on and off the island

ο‚· A great Spring "Kick-Off" party to gear up for the race and get to know fellow volunteers

ο‚· The famous after-race party, providing a chance for all members to relax and trade "war stories" with old and new friends

How do I sign up to volunteer?

You can submit a volunteer application online, through the mail, or in person at the DGPA office. To access the volunteer application online, visit our website (www.detroitgp.com), click on the Volunteer tab, and select "Volunteer for the Grand Prix." From this page, you can fill out an online application, or download and print an application to mail to us or bring to the office.
