Baker College celebrates Black History Month with gospel music, ethnic food
The Gospel Concert, Feb. 6, and Culture Cooks, Feb. 17, are open to the public. Proceeds donated to local charities.

Baker College of Flint will present events on Feb. 6 and 17 in recognition of Black History Month. The public is invited. The events feature gospel music and ethnic food, with proceeds donated to local not-for-profit organizations.
βBaker College is committed to giving back to its community through events such as these in which we are honored to be an integral part,β said Wen Hemingway, MBA, CTP, Baker College of Flint president.
Gospel Concert, Saturday, Feb. 6, 4-6 p.m., will feature talent from local churches, as well as Baker College students, faculty and staff members. It will be at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3020 Dupont St., Flint, 48504. Tickets are $6 for the general public and $4 for students 12 and under. It is sponsored by the Baker College African-American Heritage Committee and the African-American Students for Advancement (AASA) Club. Proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint.

Culture Cooks, Wednesday, Feb. 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will provide samples of ethnic dishes for $1 each. Baker College faculty and staff will prepare the dishes. It will be in the Baker College Student Center, 1050 W. Bristol Road, Flint. Proceeds will benefit the North End Soup Kitchen, Flint.
