Boy, 5, Pulled Unresponsive from Murky Water of Unused Swimming Pool

It's unclear how long the boy was in the pool before the 911 call on Memorial Day.

Authorities aren’t sure how long a 5-year-old boy was in the murky, algae-filled water before he was pulled unresponsive from the unused swimming pool in Southfield about 4:45 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters rescued the boy from the pool, which hadn’t been used for years, after a 15-minute search using poles, Southfield police told WWJ/CBS Detroit.

The boy was not breathing and was rushed to a local hospital. His condition remains unknown.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Authorities received a 911 call about a child possibly falling into a swimming pool at the home, located on Nine Mile and Berg roads.
