
The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital announced today that after an extensive external and internal search for DMCβs Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital CEO, Karen Fordham, a White-Lake resident, has been promoted from Huron Valley-Sinaiβs COO to Huron Valley-Sinai CEO, effective January 1. Fordham replaces Andrei Soran, who assumed the role of DMC Chief Operating Officer July 1.

Fordham is an accomplished executive with more than 15 years of leadership in healthcare operations. She has been with the DMC since 2007 in several administrative positions. In her most recent position as COO, she had direct oversight of service line development, strategic planning and growth, physician recruitment, outpatient imaging centers and oversight of the radiology leadership team across the entire DMC system.
She improved patient care by introducing new healthcare services like MAKOplasty and technology to improve the patient experience like Vocera and GetWellNetwork 5.0. She also led construction of Huron Valley-Sinaiβs ICU, private room renovations and the re-opening of a Childrenβs Hospital of Michigan inpatient pediatric unit at the hospital, inspired by local elementary school children.

Prior to DMC, Fordham served in administrative roles for Oakwood Healthcare System, Spectrum Health and ProMed Healthcare. She earned her Bachelorβs and Masterβs degrees from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
