Beaumont is having another free student heart check for high school students ages 13-18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Jan. 21 at Clarkston High School, 6093 Flemings Lake Rd., in Clarkston.
Over the past eight years, more than 25 young people have died from sudden cardiac arrest, predominantly student athletes. These deaths can be due to abnormal rhythms that can lead to cardiac arrest. This screening is generally not included in the routine physical required before participating in sports. Our checks include: medical history, blood pressure check, physical examination, electrocardiogram (ECG) and if indicated, an echocardiogram.
