Huron Valley Boys Lacrosse Loses Close Game to Farmington

They may have lost 10-9, but several players played well in the season opener.

Huron Valley United Boys Varsity Lacrosse (0-1) came away with a lot of positives in their first outing of the season on Tuesday, March 27th.  Although they suffered a 10-9 loss at North Farmington/Harrison United (2-0), five different players scored; face-off wins were over .500; and goalie, Ted Jones (Milford High School senior) had 17 saves.

The Titans started out strong with 10 shots and 13 ground balls in the first quarter to take a 2-1 lead with goals by Tyler Mesclier-Lakeland High School senior (assist Doyle Williams-MHS senior) and Williams (assist Corey Roberto-MHS senior).

Second and third quarter production was off, as the ball was predominantly in the defensive end. Midfielder Nathan Gilletly-LHS senior, and defensemen David Brown-LHS sophomore and Tyler Shubitowski-LHS senior stood out on defense with goals provided by Mitch Leist-LHS senior (assist Williams), and Roberto (assist Gino Wickman-MHS junior).

With the Titans down 7-4 after three quarters they turned it on with 12 shots and 13 ground balls to bring it to within one goal. Two goals were scored by Corey Roberto (assists Brad Simonich-MHS junior and Wickman) for the hat trick, another by Leist (assist Roberto) and Williams (unassisted) and a goal for Josh Beazley-MHS senior (assist Roberto).

The Huron Valley Titans’ next outing is Wednesday, April 11, 7 p.m., when they will take on Stoney Creek at Lakeland High School.
