ALL ABOUT THE HORSE’ EXHIBIT, COMPETITION ENTRIES ACCEPTED UNTIL

HIGHLAND
— Local artists are encouraged to submit their work for It’s All About
the Horse, which accepts all two-dimensional mediums including photographs,
paintings, drawings, collages and more from area amateurs and
professionals, young and old.
“There
is a spot for everyone and something for all to enjoy,” said Leah Ohmer, HVCA
executive director.

The exhibit, which is a collaboration of the
HVCA and the Highland Trail Riders Association, will be in the gallery space
Sept. 2-27 at the HVCA art center, 205 W. Livingston Road in Highland. An
opening reception will take place in the gallery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday,
Sept. 14, with prize winners announced at 1 p.m. It’s part of the larger
Highland Heritage Festival event that takes place Friday, Sept. 12 to Sunday,
Sept. 14.

added that area artists who are interested need to hurry: the deadline for It’s
All About the Horse submissions is Friday, Aug. 1 to submit entries. Email

The
focal point of each piece must be a horse or horses. Entries must be your
own original art work, completed within in the last two years and be in a
two-dimensional medium.
Once
accepted, entry fees, which are not refundable, must be submitted by mail and
received by Friday, Aug. 8 to be considered accepted into the show.
Gallery
space is limited so early entry and payment of the entry fee is encouraged. (It
is $25 for adults; limit is two entries. For the children’s categories (ages
8-12 or 13-17), the cost to enter is $10; children are limited to one entry.

The
intake of art work will take place from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 and from 10
a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 27 at HVCA, 205 W. Livingston Road, Highland. Art
work will be on display in the HVCA gallery from September 2-27, 2014.
No exhibit pieces may be removed from the gallery prior to the end of
the show.
All
entries must be framed, and be securely wired and ready to hang. Youth entries
should be no larger than 24 inches in any direction, including frame. Adult
entries must be no larger than 48 inches in any direction, including frame.
