Lakeland Beats South Lyon 12-7

Eagles bounce back with great defensive effort on the road.

The Lakeland defense stepped up to beat South Lyon 12-7 on a humid evening on the road. 

The turn around was led by a swarming defense and linebacker Anthony Waite who recovered two fumbles. 

Chuck Sanders scored the Eagles first touchdown at the 6:25 mark in the second quarter. After missing the extra point, the Eagles trailed 7-6 at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, quarterback Casey Palanca found tight end Brad Govan over the middle for the winning touchdown with just over nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. 

After the two point conversion failed, Lakeland lead 12-7.

The Eagle defense took over from there. 

Defensive end Justin Bafus stripped South Lyon quarterback Andrew Garcia with 1:31 left in the game and Waite came up with the fumble recovery to seal the win.

With the win, Lakeland improves their record to 1-1 heading into next week’s home game against Waterford Mott.
