Lakeland Helping to Raise Funds for Family in Need

A Lakeland senior, and member of the football team, was involved in an accident Friday night. Lakeland staff and students are looking to help support the family.

Lakeland students and staff are rallying to support fellow Lakeland senior Austin Bills.

Bills, according to Huron Valley Schools officials, was in a car-related accident Friday night and has been hospitalized.

In an email to district parents Lakeland Student Activities Director and teacher Scott Rolando said the school has received several inquires asking how the Lakeland community could help the Bills family.

According to Rolando, a fund has been set up for the family at . Anyone interested in donating can take or mail donations to the Austin Bills Benefit Fund, account number 7914710285. All funds will be used to help the family fund temporary housing on the hospital campus and maintain household bills while the family stays with Bills at the hospital.

Donations can also be mailed to Fifth Third Bank care of Austin Bills Benefit Fund, 6615 Highland Road, White Lake, 48383.

Rolando said the school is also interested in having meals donated. According to Rolando, the school wants to deliver one meal a day between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to feed the family of 4. Anyone interested in donating a meal can contact Lakeland Associate Principal Marc Kay at 248-676-8321.
