Lakeland’s Trent Lloyd (Stevens, Jakubowski) scored 1:44 into overtime to advance the Eagles to round two of the Pre-Regional at Lakeland Ice Arena.
The Eagles had to rally late in the third period, Western was penalized with 1:23 left to play in the game. The Eagles pulled their goalie, won the draw and Kevin Lechner fed the puck back to defenseman Bobby Schumacher who ripped a shot from the point. Western’s Nick Malles made the initial save but Tyler Mesclier was waiting on the doorstep and banged in the rebound to tie at 2 with 59 seconds left in the game for the Eagles.

After a scoreless first period Western’s Joe Orr opened the scoring going end to end and beating Eagles goalie Mitch Leist with 2:02 left in the second. The Eagles answered when Andy Stevens took a Kyle Jakubowski pass and beat Mallas 38 seconds later to end the second period tied at 1.
Western’s Zach Mallas scored the Warrior’s second goal of the game at the 7:59 mark of the third.

Mitch Leist made 27 saves in goal for the Eagles.

Lakeland advances to round two Wednesday night against Walled Lake Northern at Lakeland Arena game time is 8 p.m.
