Limited BSN program seats still available at Baker College's Flint campus

Bachelor of science nursing degrees are more and more preferred by employers. Applications taken through Sept. 15.

Those aspiring to complete their bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree can now apply at Baker College’s Flint campus for a limited number of available seats.

β€œThis accredited program offers qualified students an open door to begin the BSN program, even if they are on a waiting list at another college,” said Wen Hemingway, MBA, CTP, Baker College of Flint president. β€œWe invite anyone with the necessary academic background to apply by Sept. 15.”

Baker College's School of Nursing BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and has been approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

Limited openings are still available for the program at the following Baker College campuses: Auburn Hills, Cadillac, Clinton Township, Flint and Owosso. Students vying for admission must meet prerequisite academic requirements and pass an exam to be considered for the program.

"The Baker College School of Nursing is excited to welcome new students into the program,” said Lesley Morgan, Ph.D., MBA, ARNP, dean of the School of Nursing for Baker College. β€œThe BSN is the new standard in nursing and as one of the most affordable colleges in the state offering BSN degrees, we are pleased to provide this opportunity to qualified students."

More and more nurses are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing due to the trend among employers giving preference to candidates with BSN degrees.

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing around 35 percent of nurses had attained BSN degrees as of 2008 compared to 55 percent who were BSN-credentialed in 2013.
