Local Charter School at Top of Rankings

Local Charter School Releases Outstanding Top-To-Bottom and MEAP Rankings

Holly Academy, non-profit charter school in Holly, has been designated as one of the top K-8 schools in Michigan. Recently, the Michigan Department of Education released its Top-To-Bottom 2014 Ranking, and Holly Academy is in the 95th percentile. There are 2,757 single buildings on the list, with Holly Academy ranking 111. “This is an admirable ranking,” says Director Julie Kildee “especially since many of the buildings above us are accelerated schools, early colleges, or schools only offering one or two grade levels.” In fact, only three of the buildings above the Academy are K-8 or K-12 buildings.

In addition to the high Top-to-Bottom ranking, Holly Academy has held the highest MEAP scores in the area. 2014 MEAP tests ranked the school #1 in Genesee County and #5 in all of Oakland County. “Yes, we are so proud of our students and staff for these accomplishments. However, numbers aren’t everything. Our families love our character education program, music program, Spanish program starting in Kindergarten, and the many hands-on learning opportunities our students receive,” states Kildee. All of these things helped Holly Academy achieve MDE Reward School Status and the designation as a CMU School of Excellence.

Enrollment opportunities for this school year are still available. Contact 248-634-5554 for enrollment details. For more information, see www.hollyacademy.org. Holly Academy, a non-profit, self-managed K-8 Public School Academy, is located at 820 Academy Road in Holly, Michigan.
