North Farmington Grounds Lady Eagles

Lakeland struggles on the road in the season opener.

North Farmington grounded the lady Eagles 49-23 in the season opener for both teams. 

The Eagles got off to a slow start on the road in the first quarter as the Raider press caused problems. 

After being down 19-5, Lakeland settled down in the second quarter as they outscored North Farmington 10-6 led by seniors Caitlin Wojichowski and Marlayan Malvich.

The Eagles trailed 26-15 at the half. 

The Raiders pressure continued in the third quarter as the Eagles scored just three points.

North Farmington kept the pressure on in the final quarter for the 49-23 win. 

Marlayna Malvich led the way for the Eagles with 11 points. Dominique Zigo and Caitlin Wojichowski chipped in with 4 each. Lakeland was 15 for 21 from the free throw line. 

The Eagles next game is at Fowlerville, Friday night.
