Oak Valley Sweeps White Lake in Boys Basketball
The middle school Warrior basketball teams fell with final scores of 22-21 and 36-16.
It was tough losses all around for basketball teams on Monday afternoon as both the seventh and eighth grade teams fell to rival opponent Oak Valley Middle School from Huron Valley.
Seventh Grade Game
In the seventh grade game, White Lake led 5-2 after the first quarter, but by half time, Oak Valley had taken the lead with a 12-6 gain over the young team.

The Warriors rallied during the second half of play to tie the score, 21-21, but it was the final heart-stopping seven seconds of the game, when Oak Valley’s Eric Hedman hit a free throw, that gave the Hornets a 22-21 victory over the Warriors.
White Lake’s Matt Lowe was high scorer with seven points.

Eighth Grade Game
In the eighth grade game, White Lake jumped off to a quick 5-2 lead, led by White Lake’s Ellis Her in the first quarter.
The small advantage, however, didn’t last as the Warrior offense struggled through the second quarter. With the Oak Valley team coming to life, the Hornets racked up 19 points during the second quarter while their defense effectively shut out the Warriors with a score of 21-5 as the teams headed to the locker rooms.
The second half saw White Lake’s Luke Krug-Evans hit a big 3-pointer in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough for the team to rally and the Warrior's ended up with a sound defeat of 36-14 for the day.
Brenden Carter was high scorer for White Lake with four points while Nicholas Barron had ten to lead the Hornets.
