Police Investigating I-75 Shooting In Oakland County; No Injuries

A driver told officers someone fired a shot at his vehicle Monday night while driving along Interstate 75 in Oakland County, police said.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A driver told officers someone fired a shot at his vehicle Monday night while driving along Interstate 75 in Oakland County, according to Michigan State Police.

The driver told officers he heard a loud noise and thought he struck an object on the freeway near Michigan 15 in Springfield Township at 7:15 p.m., police said.

The driver then found a bullet hole and bullet lodged inside his vehicle’s door frame, police said. Officials said he was not struck by any shots.

The driver told police an older model maroon/red car pulled up next to him when he heard the noise, police said. He also told officials the car had a bag cover over the rear passenger window.

The freeway was closed as police investigated the shooting. Officials did not find any shell castings. Officials did not report any injuries in the shooting.

Officials were still investigating the shooting to determine if the round was fired from property along the freeway.
