UPDATE: Road Closure in Highland Township for Natural Gas Leak
Road should reopen between 5:30 and 7 p.m.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office advises that a section of M-59 has reopened, but Consumers Power is still on scene continuing repairs.

Deputies, along with Highland Township Fire Department, responded this morning to a gas leak on Milford Road in Highland Township. A construction contractor working in the area struck a 7” natural gas line, causing it to rupture.
Deputies and the Highland Township Fire Department have closed Milford Road from M-59 north to Wardlow Road. There were no injuries reported. Consumers Power is on scene to repair the ruptured gas line. The repair will take about 4 to 6 hours. The road should reopen between 17:30 hrs. and 19:30 hrs. tonight and motorists are advised to find an alternate route.
