Great Brunch at the Root

Although The Root does not need any kudos to get people there, as they won Detroit Free Press restaurant of the year in 2012, Best Chef for Best of Hour in 2013 (to name a few honorable mentions) and have easily become one of the most talked about restaurants in the Metro-Detroit area, I had to rave about their new brunch on Sundays (in case you haven’t tried it yet). They began the brunch concept just about a month ago and since then the place is packed from 10am-3pm with people craving the creative dishes put out by THE Chef James Rigato and his kitchen staff.

We couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was as we taste tested one another’s and downed every last bit. Here’s what made it to our table:

Bloody Mitten served with a small beer: $10
Grapefruit Mimosa: $9
Cinnamon Roll: $4
Fingerling Potatoes: $5
Pastrami Hash & Eggs: $12
Chicken & Waffles: $16
Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: $8

The Root prides itself on using the best local Michigan products and they truly do an incredible job of appreciating and utilizing our great state. Not only do they have an incredible menu for all meals, the vibe is nothing short of perfection. Their earthy dΓ©cor and laid back style compliments the sophisticated options. Side note: the staff wears band t-shirts for brunch on Sundays adding a little fun to the environment!
