St. Clair Shores Lakers knock off Lakeland 5-1

Justin Misiak led the way for the Lakers with 5 assists.

The Lakers came out with immediate pressure in the first period out-shooting the Eagles 27-4. Cody McPhee and Brandon Misiak lit the lamp for the Lakers in the first period.  

Questionable penalty calls in the second period intensified the Lakers pressure and with two Eagles in the penalty box Lakers forward Mike DeFranco would bang in a second effort rebound past Eagles goalie Trevor Kalinowski.

Less than a minute later Brandon Misiak would net his second of the night with another power play goal for the Lakers.

The Eagles started to apply some pressure with 5:00 remaining in the second period. Tyler Mesclier would finally get on the board with a slap shot with 3:19 remaining in the second period.

The Eagles were out-shot 20-2 in the second period.  

The Lakers tightened up their defense in the third holding Lakeland to 4 shots on goal and added another goal from Niko Greco with 1:31 remaining to make it 5-1.  

“Kalinowski was stellar in net throughout the game, the score could’ve been a lot worse,” said Lakeland Head Coach Tim Ronayne.  

Trevor Kalinowski made 53 saves in goal for Lakeland. Joe Sedrowski made 9 saves for the Lakers.  

The Eagles next game is Jan. 4 at home against Howell, game time is 7:20 p.m.
