Sharpen Skills With QuickBooks Training

Get up and running with QuickBooks 2014, the leading business accounting software package, through training at the David B. Hermelin ORT Resource Center, a division of JVS. The seven-week course beginning on Jan. 26 is designed to take participants from accounting fundamentals through QuickBook basics to more advanced QuickBooks tools. Unemployed and under-employed persons may qualify for scholarships.

Students receive 42 hours of hands-on classroom training in three modules including:

• Accounting Concepts – Learn accounting terms and understand and interpret financial reports, balance sheets, bank statements, general ledger, payroll and business invoicing practices.
• QuickBooks Essentials – Learn how to set up customers, record sales and receive payments, manage expenses, complete bank reconciliations and create reports.
• QuickBooks Advanced – Learn how to use more advanced tools such as customizing settings, item and vendor lists, inventory, tracking billable hours, payroll, journal entries and year-end closing.

Classes are held 9 a.m.-noon Mondays and Wednesdays. Registration is open to the general public. The course fee is $420; however, students who are unemployed or under-employed may qualify for scholarships made available through funding from ORT Michigan and The Jewish Fund. Space is limited and an application is required for eligibility.
