Student Injured After Truck Crashes Into Oakland County School: Police

One student was injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital, but was "alert and talking," police said​.​

MILFORD, MI — A student was injured Wednesday after a pickup truck crashed into a Milford school that was full of children, police said.

The driver of the full-size pickup truck tried navigating a turn onto East Commerce Street from south Duck Lane Road at 2 p.m. when it jumped the curb and plowed roughly 20 feet into Milford Montessori School, police said.

One student was injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital, but was "alert and talking," police said.

Officials did not release details about the injured student, but the school, located at 2700 E. Commerce St., serves roughly 70 children ages 6 months to 6 years old.

The 38-year-old driver from Highland did not immediately present any injuries from the crash, but was taken to a nearby hospital where police will "obtain a sample of his blood for analysis," police said.

Police do not know if drugs, alcohol or a medical episode played a role in the crash, which detectives are still investigating.
