Please join us as we try to find a bone marrow donor for Sydney Balzer. Sydney Balzer is a 9 year old resident of Commerce. She was diagnosed with leukemia first in 2010. After the first day of school this year, she relapsed. The doctors say that a bone marrow transplant is her best chance at a cancer-free life. We had hoped that someone in Sydney’s family would be a match. Unfortunately, this was not the case. So now the search is on for Sydney’s hero.
With the help of family and friends, there will be a bone marrow donor drive at Walled Lake Central on Saturday, November 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We hope you’ll consider registering as a bone marrow donor. It is a very simple process that could save the life of someone like Sydney. Please also help us spread the word to your families and friends. You never know who might be Sydney’s match! If you have questions or would like to find out more information, please visit Team Sydney’s Facebook Page. We hope that you are able to come to the Team Sydney Bone Marrow Drive. If you are unable to attend, you can still help.
There are four ways to help:
1. Hold your own drive (Reference Sydney Balzer)
2. Host a Swab Party (Reference Sydney Balzer)
3. Go on the DKMS website (www.deletebloodcancer.org) and have a kit sent to your house.
4. Donate (Team Sydney Fundraising Page)
Thank you!
