UPS Hiring Nearly 100,000 Workers For Holidays: Here's Where

The world’s largest package-delivery company is going on a hiring spree in the United States. UPS will be hiring up to 95,000 part-time workers for the holiday season to keep up with the annual spike in demand for shipping.

The positions will be “primarily package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers,” according to a UPS news release, and the positions could include opportunities for future employment with the Atlanta-based company.

CEO David Abney and three of the company’s other top managers started as part-time employees, according to the company.

“It was a way to pay my way through college,” Abney, who loaded trucks at night starting in March 1974, said in the release. “At the time, I had no idea then that I’d be leading the company someday but I could tell UPS was a place where a solid work ethic was appreciated and there were great opportunities for advancement.”

  • Package Handler – Part-Time: “Please note that these opportunities are part-time only working approximately 17 1/2 – 20 hours per week. Employees can expect to take home between $140.00 and $170.00 each week after deductions have been taken for taxes, etc.”
  • Tractor Trailer Driver: “Seasonal Tractor-Trailer Drivers typically work weekdays (Monday through Friday) and are required to meet driver appearance standards. UPS Tractor-Trailer Drivers usually begin work in the evening and finish the following morning. Applicants must pass a DOT physical and drug test and successfully pass a UPS road test.”
  • Vehicle Carwasher: “Requirements include ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle, be at least 21 years of age and posses a current valid driver’s license.This is a physical, fast paced job that requires both interior and exterior cleaning of the UPS vehicle fleet using hand held tools including a long handled brush. Car Washers are required to position vehicles and must be proficient driving 5-speed manual transmission vehicles. The typical work period for Part-Time Car Washers is Monday through Friday, starting late afternoons or early evenings and working 3 to 5 hours per day.”
  • Part-Time Local Sort Supervisor: “Supervisors typically work Monday through Friday: however, weekend work may be required based upon the location and business needs. Part-time management employees are generally expected to work 5 1/2 hours per day and are paid weekly. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are offered to employees and their eligible dependents. Additional benefits include educational assistance, 401K, discounted stock purchase program, and paid vacations/holidays.”
