Viewfinder: Redbud Reveal at Highland Recreation Area
A photo gallery of last weekend's event.
The Friends of Highland Recreation Area (FOHRA) presented the "Redbud Reveal" kick-off event Saturday afternoon in the Highland Recreation Area.
After months and months of hard work by the Friends, they presented the Haven Hill Gate House garage at the former Edsel and Eleanor Ford Family Haven Hill Estate.
The garage served as the reception post for visitors like Thomas Edison and Charles Lindbergh in the 1920's. The unique Redbud trees which are found around the park were beginning to bloom on the roadway up to the main lodge on Haven Hill. FOHRA President Dick Russell thanked a number of contributors including Oakland County Planning and Economic Development, Cadillac Asphalt, MotorCities, the Holman and Sawruk families, R.D.White Company, Lukes Trucking and Excavating and the Highland Equestrian Conservancy for their help in restoring the property.
